The Italian Approach
What Defines Modern Italian Cabinetry
Italian cabinetmakers lead with the surface. Where German systems are known for engineering, modern Italian cabinets are known for veneer, proportion and finish: book-matched woods, deep matte lacquers, back-painted glass and leather-wrapped fronts composed in long, low horizontal lines. Doors are tall and slender, plinths recede, and open shelving and lit niches break up the runs so the cabinetry reads as furniture, not storage.
The second signature is proportion. Italian designers work in generous widths and precise reveals, so a kitchen wall, a dressing room or a media wall feels composed rather than filled. At Inplace Studio we bring that sensibility to Southern California homes through Ranzo Rastelli, alongside our luxury custom cabinets from SieMatic and Signature Custom Cabinetry.
About the Brand
Ranzo Rastelli: Italian Design for Every Room
Ranzo Rastelli is the Italian line in our studio. Each piece is made to order in Italy and specified by our designers for your project, with the same 8 to 10 week manufacturing lead time as our other lines. The collection covers the whole home, so a kitchen, the walk-in closet behind it and the living room media wall can share one palette of finishes.

Italian or German
Choosing Between Ranzo Rastelli and SieMatic
Because we design with both, we can help you decide on the merits rather than on a brand story. Choose Ranzo Rastelli when the finish is the point: expressive veneers, lacquer colors, glass and leather, and a lighter, more furniture-like composition. Choose SieMatic when you want the most resolved handleless system, with interior fittings and lighting engineered as one platform.
Many homes use both. A SieMatic kitchen with a Ranzo Rastelli walk-in closet and media wall is a combination we specify often, and the two lines are planned on the same drawings so proportions and finishes agree. Read more about European kitchen cabinets, German and Italian.

Finishes to See at Our Showrooms
Italian finishes do not photograph the way they feel. A smoked eucalyptus veneer, a matte lacquer that holds no fingerprints, or a leather-wrapped door with a brass reveal is best judged in daylight with a sample in hand. Our La Jolla and Laguna Beach showrooms keep an authentic Ranzo Rastelli sample library beside working SieMatic kitchens, so you can compare the two in one visit.
Bring your drawings, your contractor or your designer. We will lay out finishes against your flooring, stone and paint, and confirm the lead time and budget before anything is ordered. Showroom visits are by appointment, and the first consultation is complimentary.
